OUR HISTORY
- St. Paul's United Methodist Church was founded in 1952 -
St. Paul's United Methodist Church has a story as unique and inspiring as the people who have called it home. Founded in 1952, our beginnings were humble-so humble, in fact, that our first gathering place was affectionately known as the "chicken coop church." Situated on the site of a former poultry farm in Encino, the building wasn't much to look at, but it held something far more important than appearances: it held hope.

It was Rev. Jarvis Brown who saw promise in that simple structure, transforming it into a beacon of faith and hope for a growing congregation. By 1955, the church had moved to Newcastle Avenue, where families gathered faithfully each Sunday to worship, serve, and grow together in Christ.
Our beautiful Sanctuary was completed in 1966, and the full campus as we know it today was finished in 1984. St. Paul's UMC holds decades of rich history and transformation-and if you look closely, you'll notice a special detail: Cappleman Hall still features the original stained glass from our Newcastle Ave. location.

What a beautiful reminder that while buildings change, the Spirit and heart of St. Paul's remain the same.
